My Biography:
With over 18 years of experience, Melissa initially received her Associates Degree of Applied Sciences in Occupational Therapy in 2000, then returned back to school to receive her Bachelor’s Degree in Interdisciplinary Studies from University of Houston. With her mind set on progressing her career, Melissa was immediately accepted to Graduate School at Texas Woman’s University in Denton, Texas where she completed her Master’s Degree in Occupational Therapy in 2010. During her studies at TWU, is where Melissa decided to dive more into Pediatric Studies and created the concept of her own pediatrics practice of Therapy For Kidz/ Developmental Rehab Services.
Across the 18 years being in the OT Field, Melissa acquired a vast array of experience, not only working in Pediatrics, but also with Older Adults, and the Intellectually Disabled population. She also held an upper management position as a Regional Director of Operations for one of the Top Rehabilitation Companies across the country, with managing over 15 facilities across South Texas. During her time in management, Melissa based her management/operations style on the Ideal of making Customer Service/Customer Satisfaction a #1 Priority. She quickly realized that when patients and families are happy and content, and staff felt valid and appreciated, business flowed smoothly and demand for therapy services increased.
Since learning and accomplishing so much working in Management, Melissa still had a desire to work more hands-on with Children and still had a desire to open her own Pediatric Practice. In 2014, she was able to accomplish her dream when she officially started Developmental Rehab Services, Inc.
Soon after starting Developmental Rehab Services, Inc, Melissa quickly realized that working with Pediatrics was her natural calling, and she began to work even harder and more diligently to expand her Pediatric Practice in order to service family needs. With implementation of her concepts of making Customer Service/Customer Satisfaction her Top Priority, her Pediatric Practice began to flourish exponentially, to where she was able to official open Therapy For Kidz, her Pediatric Outpatient Clinic, located in the heart of Houston’s Medical Center.
